James Francis Gill is an American artist and one of the pioneers of the Pop Art movement. He was born in Texas, USA. James Francis Gill was mentioned together with Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana and Andy Warhol in the USA of the 1960‘s and influenced the artworld tremendously. Amongst others the Museum of Modern Art in New York exhibits his Marilyn Tryptych which is part of its permanent collection. At the peak of his career, Gill retired. Around 30 years later he returned to the art scene. The result is a modern view on strong women like this “Women in Cars” exhibiton at Queens Galerie in Zurich.
